Tragedy often prompts us to our knees. We don’t even know what to say, but the Spirit intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Romans 8:26)

I wholeheartedly believe that prayer is the best and most powerful thing that a Christian can do, because it expresses a complete dependence on the best and most powerful thing God can do.

As I reflect on these words… “Lord, teach us to pray.”, He reminds me of an acronym He gave me years ago…

“When you pray, say:

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed (Holy, revered, sacred) be Your name…”

P is for Praise.

“…And forgive us our sins…”

R is for Repent.

“…Give us day by day our daily bread…
…deliver us from the evil one.”

A is for Ask.

“…Your will be done…”

Y is for yield.

Through the Fog

Sometimes life is just hard, ya know? Tragic. 2018 began with the unexpected death of my brother-in-law on January 1st. We’re trying to make our way through the fog.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

Fall has been full of Thanksgiving. I can’t yet put into words the emotions I’ve experienced. The cochlear implant is an amazing gift. Today I walked through the fall leaves on my sidewalk listening to them crunch under my feet. Grateful.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!”
